Jimenez secures Serie A switch
Alex Jimenez has completed a season-long loan move to Fiorentina from Bournemouth, the clubs confirmed on Thursday. The deal includes a €20 million (£17m) option to make the transfer permanent next summer.
The 21-year-old Spanish defender had been suspended by Bournemouth since May pending an investigation into what the club described as a "serious matter" relating to "posts circulating on social media". The move allows Jimenez to resume his playing career while that process remains ongoing.
"The club wishes Alex well for the season ahead as he links up with Fiorentina," Bournemouth said in a statement.
Jimenez originally joined Bournemouth on loan from AC Milan before the deal was made permanent in February, with the youngster signing a contract until 2031. He made 32 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring his only goal for the club in a memorable 3-2 home victory over Liverpool.
Jimenez's Bournemouth stats 2025/26:
Appearances: 32
Goals: 1
Contract until: 2031
The Spain Under-21 international will now look to reignite his career in Serie A under manager Raffaele Palladino, as Fiorentina aim to strengthen their defensive options for the new campaign.
