Test Your Knowledge as the World Waits for Sunday's Final
Football fans can put their World Cup history to the test with a brand-new quiz from BBC Sport. Published just days before the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, the challenge dares supporters to recall every nation that has ever reached the sport's biggest stage.
"The world is waiting. The World Cup final gets under way at 20:00 BST on Sunday. It will be the 23rd final in World Cup history. Can you name all of the teams who have ever played in the game's biggest showpiece?"
The quiz, available on the BBC Sport website, covers all 22 previous showpieces from 1930 onwards. Participants must name both winners and runners-up from each tournament. It forms part of a growing collection of interactive World Cup content launched by the broadcaster throughout the competition.

Argentina vs Spain: A Final for the Ages
Sunday's final kicks off at 20:00 BST at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey. Defending champions Argentina, led by captain Lionel Messi, will face 2010 winners Spain. Both teams are aiming to etch their names deeper into World Cup folklore – Argentina by becoming the first nation to retain the trophy since Brazil in 1962, and Spain by securing a second star above their crest.
