Birmingham City have completed the signing of England caps, has agreed a three-year deal at the newly promoted side. She becomes the first summer addition for Amy Merricks' team after they won the Women's Championship title last season.
Turner originally came through Manchester United's academy before spells at Everton and Bristol City, but it was upon her return to the north west in 2018 that she truly flourished, becoming an integral part of the United side.
What Turner brings to Birmingham
Turner brings extensive top-flight experience and leadership qualities. Having helped United rise from the second tier to become a WSL force, she knows what it takes to compete at the highest level. Her arrival addresses a key defensive need for Birmingham as they aim to consolidate their top-flight status.
'This is where I want to be,' Turner said. 'It's an exciting project and I think there's no ceiling to what we can achieve here.'
Manager Amy Merricks highlighted the defender's character, saying: 'She's someone who brings a lot of experience and quality at the highest level, but just as importantly she's a brilliant character and a real leader. We know the standards she'll set every day will have a really positive impact on this group.'
United director of women's football Matt Johnson paid tribute to Turner's immense contribution over eight years, noting her role in shaping the club's culture. Only Ella Toone made more appearances for the United women's side, underlining Turner's importance.
A key piece of the puzzle
Turner's signing is a statement of intent from Birmingham, who are not merely aiming to survive in the WSL. With a manager keen to build a competitive squad and a player hungry for a new challenge, this move could be one of the smartest bits of business this summer.
