Jurgen Klopp has reached an agreement in principle to become the new head coach of the Germany men's national team, according to reports.
The former Liverpool boss met with senior German football association (DFB) officials in New York on Friday, with the DFB confirming that preliminary talks have taken place.
"DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and DFB Vice President Hans-Joachim Watzke held their first in-depth talks with Jürgen Klopp in New York regarding his potential appointment as national team coach," a DFB statement read.
Klopp has been working as a pundit for German television during the World Cup and is currently under contract with Red Bull as head of global football, a role he has held since January 2025. Further negotiations are expected next week to finalize his release from that agreement.
