Klopp Set for Die Mannschaft
Jürgen Klopp is on the verge of being appointed as Germany's new head coach after reaching an agreement in principle with the German Football Association (DFB), according to Sky Germany. Negotiations in New York on Friday made a breakthrough, with Klopp expected to sign a contract that runs until the end of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The 56-year-old former Liverpool manager has been head of global soccer for Red Bull Group since leaving Anfield in 2024, but his contract included a special exit clause for the Germany job. Talks with Red Bull chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff are expected to finalise his departure by early next week.
The DFB had previously confirmed that talks with Klopp had taken place, and an official announcement is planned for Saturday. Klopp will replace Julian Nagelsmann, whose tenure as Germany boss ended after the recent World Cup on home soil.

Klopp's return to management comes after a two-year hiatus from the touchline. At Liverpool, he won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup, cementing his status as one of the game's elite coaches. His appointment is seen as a major coup for the DFB as they look to rebuild after a disappointing World Cup campaign.
The deal highlights Klopp's enduring connection with German football, where he previously led Borussia Dortmund to two Bundesliga titles and a Champions League final. Further details are expected when the DFB makes its official announcement.
