Aston Villa have completed the signing of Norway international defender Mathilde Harviken from Juventus, the Women's Super League side confirmed on Friday.

The 24-year-old made nearly 50 appearances for the Italian giants after joining in January 2025, featuring in the UEFA Women's Champions League. She helped Juventus clinch the Serie A title and Coppa Italia during the 2024-25 campaign, as well as the inaugural Serie A Women's Cup in 2025.

Harviken began her career in Norway with FL Fart and Roa IL before moving to Rosenborg in 2022, where she amassed over 80 appearances. She earned her first senior Norway cap in 2022 and was part of the squads for the 2023 Women's World Cup and Euro 2025.

"It's a really good opportunity to join a club with such a big history," Harviken said of her move to the Women's Super League. "There are great facilities here and everything you need to perform and continue developing as a player."

Aston Villa's director of women's football, Marisa Ewers, added: "Mathilde is a player we've been tracking for over two years and we've been consistently impressed by her development. She has a lot of experience for her age and we believe she has all the attributes to make an impact here and continue developing. We're excited to see what she can bring to the team."

Harviken becomes Villa's latest recruit as they look to build on their mid-table finish in the WSL last term. The defender's experience at the highest level of European football is expected to bolster a backline that conceded 39 goals in 22 league games.
