Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Emily Ramsey on a free transfer from Everton, adding experienced WSL depth to their squad ahead of the new season.
Ramsey's career path
The 25-year-old spent four years on Merseyside after an initial loan spell in 2022, having previously come through the ranks at Manchester United. Ramsey made six appearances for United during a five-year senior stay and gained further Women's Super League experience on loan at Sheffield United, West Ham and Birmingham City.
On the international stage, Ramsey has represented England at junior levels up to the under-23s and received a senior call-up in 2023.
What they said
"It felt like the right time for a new challenge," Ramsey told the club's official channels. "I'm excited to play at Villa Park on the right side of the team, get to know the players and see what we can achieve together this season."
Villa's director of women's football Marisa Ewers added:
"Emily is a goalkeeper with strong experience in the WSL and a real desire to continue developing her game. She has arrived at Villa eager to challenge herself and contribute to the group."
This signing reinforces Villa's goalkeeping options and reflects the club's ambition to compete higher in the WSL standings.
