Arsenal Close In on Tzolis
Arsenal have agreed a deal worth up to €40m (£34m) with Club Brugge for Greek forward Christos Tzolis, as they move swiftly to replace the departed Leandro Trossard.
The 24-year-old is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days and will sign a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium. Tzolis, who can operate on the left flank, scored 22 goals last season and was previously a target for Crystal Palace.
Direct Replacement for Trossard
Tzolis arrives as a direct replacement for Leandro Trossard, whose transfer to Turkish side Besiktas was confirmed this week for €18m (£15.3m). The Belgian winger's exit left a void in Mikel Arteta's attacking options, and the Gunners have moved quickly to secure the Greece international.
The former Norwich City forward will look to make an impact in the Premier League after a challenging spell in England earlier in his career.
Defensive Cover Also a Priority
Alongside the Tzolis deal, Arsenal are also stepping up their search for defensive reinforcements due to concerns over William Saliba. The French defender is battling ongoing back issues and could miss the start of the new season.
Key Transfer Details:
- Fee: €40m (£34m) including add-ons
- Player: Christos Tzolis, 24
- Position: Left winger / forward
- Contract: Long-term (pending medical)
- Previous Club: Club Brugge
An official bid has yet to be submitted, but verbal agreement is in place. The deal highlights Arsenal's proactive approach in the summer window as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
