Calm Dry Pattern Keeps Birmingham, Alabama Sunny With Highs in the 70s and Cool Nights as Next Meaningful Rain Holds Off Until Early November
BIRMINGHAM, AL — Alabama’s weather is locked into a calm and dry pattern that will not change much through the weekend and well into next week. Residents can expect sunny, pleasant days and clear, cool nights, with highs ranging from 76 to 81 degrees on Thursday and Friday before easing into the mid to upper 70s over the weekend. The long dry spell continues, and the next meaningful rain event may not arrive until early November, roughly 10 to 15 days from now.
Warm Afternoons to End the Workweek
The daily forecast for Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport shows a warm finish to the workweek. Thursday, October 22, reaches about 79 degrees, while Friday, October 23, climbs to around 78 degrees following a morning low near 52 degrees.
Across the state, highs on these two days will generally range from 76 to 81 degrees, with plenty of sunshine and light winds making for comfortable outdoor conditions.
Slightly Cooler Over the Weekend
The weekend will turn a bit cooler as highs settle into the mid 70s. Saturday, October 24, is forecast to reach 75 degrees with a low near 51 degrees, while Sunday, October 25, tops out near 74 degrees after a morning low around 51 degrees.
These conditions are ideal for fall festivals, outdoor sports, yard work, and weekend gatherings across Central Alabama.
Same Pattern Continues Next Week
The calm and dry weather will carry into next week with very little change. Monday, October 26, reaches about 74 degrees with a low near 50 degrees. Tuesday climbs to 76 degrees, following the coolest morning of the stretch at around 49 degrees.
Temperatures gradually warm through the rest of the week, with Wednesday near 77 degrees, Thursday around 78 degrees, and both Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, reaching about 79 degrees. Morning lows will hold between 51 and 56 degrees, giving Halloween a mild and dry outlook.
No Rain in Sight for Alabama
Precipitation guidance through 8:00 AM EDT on Thursday, October 29, shows no measurable rainfall across Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, or the Carolinas. The only notable moisture in the region remains over the Atlantic waters east of Florida and parts of the southern Florida Peninsula, where totals of several inches appear offshore.
Light amounts are also scattered across the Gulf of Mexico, but none of that moisture is expected to reach Alabama during the period.
Long Dry Spell Raises Concerns
The extended stretch without rain continues to dry out lawns, gardens, pastures, and wooded areas across the state. Low humidity and dry vegetation can increase the risk of outdoor fires, so residents are encouraged to use caution with any outdoor burning and follow local restrictions.
Homeowners may want to water plants and newly seeded lawns, as natural rainfall is not expected to provide relief for at least another week and a half.
Looking Toward Early November
Forecasters continue to watch for a pattern change in early November, when the next meaningful rain event may finally arrive. Until then, Alabama can expect a long run of sunshine, comfortable afternoons, and cool nights.
